Description:

The IBM Certified Application Developer (CD) certification from IBM Certification was established in 2001.  This IBM Certified Application Developer (CD) certification is intended for candidates who are presently employed in the Application Development environments.  This certification is also for candidates who aspire to find employment in this environment and wants to obtain the IBM Certified Application Developer (CD) certification.

 

The candidate who passes the IBM Certified Application Developer (CD) certification will certify that a successful IBM Certified Application Developer has learnt the knowledge needed to:-

·       Create applications that run on any of the DB2 platforms: Linux

·       UNIX (including AIX, HP-UX, and Sun Solaris) and

·       Windows

·       z/OS

·       s/390 and

·       iseries

 

The successful IBM Certified Application Developer certified student will have knowledge of all common programming tasks as well as strong skills in one or more of the specialty areas: embedded SQL programming, ODBC/CLI programming, or Java programming.  These are all fields in the application development environments.

 

A prerequisite for the IBM Certified Application Developer certification is available to students who have the knowledge and experience required to successfully acquired the IBM Certified Application Developer certification.

 

 

Required Exams:

To be awarded the IBM Certified Application Developer certification, the IBM Certified Application Developer student must successfully pass one or two exams.  These exams are:-

·       The IBM 000-256 Application Development with IBM Rational Application Developer for WebSphere Software V6.0 exam or

·       The IBM 000-700 DB2 UDB V8.1 Family Fundamentals and IBM 000-703 DB2 UDB V8.1 Family Application Development exams

 

These exams have a difficulty rating of about 3 out of 5 and are thus only a moderately difficult exam.  These language medium for the exams is English.

 

 

Recertification:

A successful IBM Certified Application Developer candidate will only hold the IBM Certified Application Developer certification for a period of two years.  Thereafter the IBM Certified Application Developer candidate must re-validate their IBM Certified Application Developer certification.  This can be done by retaking and passing the current CD exams.
