The Cisco IP Communications certifications from Cisco Certification was established in 2001 and is aimed at students who are currently employed in the Service Provider and Enterprise environments, or those who want to find employment in those environments.

Recertification:
A successful Cisco IP Communications student will hold their certification for two years only. Thereafter the validity is null and void. This will then mean that they need to re-validate their certification by retaking and passing the Cisco IP Communications exam(s) or taking and passing the Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert written exam.
