Cisco CCNA
Cisco Systems established the CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate) certification in 2001 as an entry level certification for Cisco technicians. The CCNA Certification has undergone numerous changes in keeping with the advancement of network technology since 2001. It is aimed at students who are currently employed in the Service Provider and Enterprise environments, or those who want to find employment in those environments, and want to obtain the Cisco professional level or some of the Cisco Qualified Specialists certifications. Being an entry level certification to Cisco certifications, the CCNA exams have no prerequisites.
The Cisco Certified Network Associate certifies that a successful CCNA student has proven knowledge needed to plan, design, implement, and operate a Cisco Network. The successful CCNA certified student will also have knowledge of various protocols, including: IP, IGRP, Serial, Frame Relay, IP RIP, VLANs, RIP, Ethernet, Access lists.
CCNA Exams:
In order to obtain the Cisco Certified Network Associate certification, the CCNA student must take and pass either one or two exams, namely the composite Cisco 640-801 CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate) exam or the Cisco 640-821 INTRO (Introduction to Cisco Networking Technologies) and 640-811 ICND (Interconnecting Cisco Networking Devices) exams.
The single Cisco 640-801 CCNA exam is slightly more difficult than the two separate exams because of the wider range of topics covered in the exam but all three exams have a difficulty rating of about 3 out of 5 and are thus only moderately difficult. The CCNA exams are available in English, German (in Germany only) and Japanese (in Japan only).
CCNA Recertification:
The successful CCNA student will hold the Cisco Certified Network Associate certification for three years only, after which the student will require recertification. CCNA recertification can be accomplished by passing current CCNA exam, or passing the ICND exam, or passing any professional level or Cisco Specialist exam other than the Sales Specialist exams, or passing a current CCIE (Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert) written exam
Preparing for the CCNA Certificate:
There is a lot of CCNA study materials available to help you prepare for any of the CCNA exams. These include the official Cisco CCNA Certification Training courses and Cisco CCNA Self Study Training Guides from Cisco Press. The Cisco website also has a CCNA Prep Center that provides sample questions, simulations, e-learning modules, labs, and tips for the CCNA certification. Non-Cisco resources include Testking CCNA practice exams, CCNA study guides, and CCNA audio guides, as well as CCNA bootcamps, CCNA video training courses, CCNA Online practice exams and CCNA braindumps.
Most of this material will place you in good stead to accomplish your CCNA.
