IBM

One of the leading certification vendors in the information technology field is IBM.  This, IBM certifications is designed for candidates who design, implement, maintain, secure and troubleshoot IBM workstations and server computers and candidates who implement solutions based on the IBM suite of software products.

 

 

Certification Levels:

IBM Certifications are available at three levels:

 

·       Entry, which has three paths: IBM Certified Specialist or IBM eServer Certified Specialist, IBM Certified Database Associate, and IBM Certified Associate Developer.

 

·       Intermediate, which has nine paths: IBM Certified Application Developer, IBM Certified Solution Designer, IBM Certified Solution Developer, IBM Certified Solutions Expert or IBM eServer Certified Solutions Expert, IBM Certified Systems Expert, IBM Certified Database Administrator, IBM Certified System Administrator, IBM Certified Deployment Professional, and IBM Certified Administrator.

 

·       Advanced, this has seven paths: IBM Certified Advanced Application Developer, IBM Certified Advanced Database Administrator, IBM Certified Advanced Deployment Professional, IBM Certified Advanced System Administrator, IBM Certified Advanced Technical Expert, IBM Certified Enterprise Developer, and IBM Certified Infrastructure Systems Architect.  This level represents the highest level of Cisco certification.

 

 

Certification Paths:

The IBM certification covers different career paths.  This IBM certification offers different certification tracts.  The candidate can match their certification track to their job role or industry.

 

The IBM certification tracks are:

 

·       Developer which consists of the IBM Certified Associate Developer certification followed by the CCDP certification

·       The Application Developer, which consists of the IBM Certified Associate Developer followed by the IBM Certified Application Developer and then the IBM Certified Advanced Application Developer certification.

·       The Database Administrator, which consists of the IBM Certified Database Associate followed by the IBM Certified Advanced Database Administrator and then the IBM Certified Advanced Database Administrator certification.

·       System Administrator, which consists of the IBM Certified Specialist or IBM eServer Certified Specialist followed by the IBM Certified System Administrator and then the IBM Certified Advanced System Administrator certification.

·       Deployment, which consists of the IBM Certified Specialist or IBM eServer Certified Specialist followed by the IBM Certified Deployment Professional and then the IBM Certified Advanced Deployment Professional certification.

·       The Systems Architect, which consists of the IBM Certified Systems Expert followed by the IBM Certified Infrastructure Systems Architect.

 

 

Specialization Certification

IBM also offers specialist certification in specific technology areas.  These are:-

·       On Demand Business

·       Retail Store Solutions

 

 

Recertification:

Recertification is a key feature of IBM certification.  A successful IBM Certification candidate will hold the IBM certification until it is retired.  The candidate must re-validate their IBM certification by retaking and passing the relevant certification exam(s), or by taking and passing the IBM exam(s) at a higher certification level.
